It’s back to school at Cornebarrieu Shubukan!

Since now 3 ans l’association PLUS (association Ryukyu To-de et Kobu-jutsu) offers Karate Uechi-ryu lessons within the Cornebarrieu Shubukan. Classes are led by Sébastien Langlais (5and And), holder of a CQP Martial Arts.

Due to 3 slots per week, teaching addresses the traditional aspects of the Uechi-ryu school with technique (kote/ashi kitae, hojohundo, elbow, word) and the fight (sparring,  yakusoku kumite, jyu kumite) but also offers goshin jutsu as well as specific preparation courses for competitions and federal grades.

Encouraged by his teacher Jean Smith (7and And) et Maitre Yukinobu Shimabukuro (9and and) which works for the development of Uechi-ryu in France and Europe, Sébastien founded this association in 2021. Starting with Shotokan karate in 1991, he continued his learning of martial arts with Viet vo dao Thanh Long and Taekwondo before turning to Uechi-ryu karate and Kobudo from 2006 within Toulouse Shubukan with Vincent Britelle and Jean Smith. Also very attached to the development of Uechi-ryu in Haute-Garonne, Sébastien has been part of 5 years of the commission of grade judges as referent of the Uechi-ryu style.

Multi-discipline course January 2024  Karate Aikido

Located in western Toulouse, the Cornebarrieu Shubukan is friendly hosted by the CAM association (Cornebarrieu Martial Arts) in his dojo located at the Pierre de Coubertin sports area. With this structure, Toulouse counts today 4 clubs that teach Uechi-ryu karate (Toulouse, Mauzac, balm, Cornebarrieu) and who meet at least 2 times a year during quarterly meetings under the direction of Jean Smith and Sébastien Langlais

Le Cornebarrieu Shubukanalso organizes multi-discipline courses to introduce the Uechi-ryu style outside the club in order to open up to other practices and thus share our passion for martial arts. This year, it was with the Aikido section of the CAM that we discussed the theme of Kansetsu-waza.
