The style of Karate-do we practice is called Uechi Ryu style because it was created by Master Uechi Kanbun (1877¬1948). The word means Ryu school. In all Japanese martial arts, the name of a style refers to its founder, a teacher, where the discipline was practiced, animal which has been adopted movements, or some philosophical word that the founder was sensitive.
